As another Academic year starts, another edition of light.ication commences. With Light Middle East just around the corner, we are pleased to have 4 teams participating this year with a good mix of Student’s from Architecture, interior design and Various engineering disciplines. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for the outstanding mentors who are dedicating their time to educating the students on lighting Design as a professional discipline.
If you are not already familiar, we are going RGB crazy and the theme for this year is Holi Festival- Interpretation of light. The fun part of the initiative as an organiser will of course be seeing all these amazing installations, the hard work is always in transforming what you visualise and making this a reality. Hey, they say sky is the limit!
So in short, here is the format! Each team will come up with a concept and undergo all 4 stages of the design process. They will select an exhibiting supplier who will supply them with luminaires and have 2 days to build up at the Dubai World Trade Centre. We have Creation Gulf who will also be working with all the teams to provide Controls in order to help the students develop further awareness of the importance of control systems in lighting. Stay tuned for student interviews, time lapsed videos as well as confessions from this year’s very own ‘BIG BROTHER BOOTH’!
We are excited to see what all the teams have to offer. By the looks of things, the mentors are hard at work. Stay tuned for more updates.
