LEVA Hotels & Resorts
Leisure . Hospitality
Light Func was approached by Spacez Design on behalf of Leva Hotels & Resorts to be part of the refurbish & rebranding of the first LEVA Hotel in the UAE.
The scope was to redesign lighting for all the guestrooms, all day dining, circulation areas, pool and facade, with the refurbishment timeline of12 weeks.
We worked closely with the interior designer and hospitality brand to create spaces that were welcoming and trendy.
The reception, characterised by contemporary artwork murals are lit so that the full artwork is illuminated - an almost gallery approach. The all-day dining consists of intense focus light illuminating the tables, with the windows creating interest from passersby with a cascade of naked filament bulbs. The vertical buffet and cafe front are underlined with
concealed lighting to enhance the hospitality feel as well as for function. Hence the facade is set awash with saturated complementary colour, making the openings visible from without, very enticing.
Lift lobbies a invoke a sense of welcome and relaxation with clusters of pendants in corners catching the gold etching painted into existing marble finishes. Corridors devoid of daylight, use linear fixtures for vertical llumination brightening the transitional spaces. Narrow spots are aimed at the doorways for wayfinding and secondary lighting in corridors by night.
The rooms themselves have layered elements of light;
1. Concealed joinery lighting in wardrobes for functional light
2. A ledge is introduced on the lowest level of the false ceiling to house concealed lighting that projects light upwards to
the slab, which in turn acts as a reflector for ambient light.
3. Curtain pelmets are re-designed to house concealed lensed linear lighting for further ambient light as well as a
4. Downlights are replaced in the bathrooms and entries with warm and narrow optics
For the pool area, bulbs are replaced in existing wall lights & bollards with a warm white colour temperature, and festoon lighting is introduced onto the pool canopy, so that it is reflected off the water for relaxed setting. Lanterns are placed between deck chairs for added sophistication
